PACKAGING OPERATOR – FULL-TIME
Purpose
The Packaging Operator is responsible for packaging beer and all other duties involved in the packaging process. This is a first shift position, Monday – Thursday 9 am – 5 pm, Friday 7 am – 3 pm. Flexibility is a must as overtime may occasionally be required and changes to the production schedule can happen.

Duties

  • Package beer; operate canning line, cardboard erector and kegging machine
  • Adhere to and keep accurate records of our QA/QC checks
  • Operate and keep routine maintenance schedule on packaging equipment
  • Problem solve and fix any maintenance issues on all packaging equipment
  • Communicate with Packaging Manager, warehouse team and brewer/cellar teams on beer needs and flow to ensure pieces are in place for next day’s packaging run
  • Communicate effectively with teammates to pass any pertinent information from 1st shift to 2nd
  • Wash and fill kegs
  • Run CIP on keg or can equipment before and after packaging runs
  • Stock and organize coolers
  • Keep excellent inventory records
  • Keep overall production area organized
  • Operate forklift
  • Adhere to correct PPE and all SOPs
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • 21 years of age or older
  • Must be passionate about craft beer
  • Previous experience working in a manufacturing or warehouse setting strongly preferred
  • Strong communication skills; ability to speak and interact effectively with others
  • Professional presence; must conduct self in professional manner at all times as an ambassador for CDB
  • Flexibility to work variety of hours includes nights and weekends as demands warrant
  • Positive attitude, initiative, creativity and adaptability as CDB grows
  • Self-motivated and able to take initiative

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to team lift 170 lbs multiple times per work shift and stand/walk during entire shift while working in a hot, cold and humid environment

SECOND SHIFT BREWER – FULL-TIME
Purpose
The Brewer performs a variety of production tasks to ensure consistently high-quality Castle Danger beers are produced. This is a second shift position, Sunday – Wednesday, four 10-hour shifts.

Duties

  • Complete a variety of brewing calculation
  • Follow established SOPs and develop as necessary
  • Wort production with a focus on quality, consistency, and yield
  • Yeast handling including pitching, and cropping yeast
  • Fermentation management and monitoring
  • Operate a GEA Decanter Centrifuge and properly dispose of beer waste
  • Record keeping and documentation of practices
  • Equipment maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Raw materials receiving, handling, and inventory
  • Extensive cleaning of equipment and facility
  • Recipe design and wort production on the pilot system
  • Perform QA/QC duties as assigned
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • 21 years of age or older
  • Minimum of two years production brewery experience
  • Must be passionate about craft beer
  • Strong knowledge of CIP and sanitizing principles
  • Strong communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Ability to work weekends/overnights
  • Positive attitude, initiative, creativity, and adaptability as CDB grows
  • Self-motivated and able to take initiative
  • Ability to operate a forklift (will train)

  • Lift /carry supplies in excess of 85 lbs and team lift up to 170 lbs
  • Position requires frequent crouching, moving heavy hoses, work in hot, cold, and humid environments

  • Education, coursework in brewing strongly preferred

CELLAR PERSON – FULL-TIME
Purpose
Cellar Persons are responsible for maintaining beer throughout fermentations and the transfer and clarification of beer in preparation for packaging. We have first and second shift opportunities available, and the work week is four 10 hour shifts.

Duties

  • Perform daily fermentation pH/gravity checks
  • Manage fermentations and yeast health
  • CIP and sanitize fermenters and brite tanks
  • Aid brewers in tank preparation and yeast pitching
  • Cellar work including beer transfers using a GEA Westphalia Centrifuge, dry-hopping using a Rolec DH-90, and carbonating using an Anton-Paar Cbox.
  • Operate a GEA Decanter Centrifuge and properly dispose of beer waste
  • Extensive brewery cleaning and sanitation
  • Keep extensive records and adhere to in place documentation procedures
  • Aid in receiving and storage of raw materials and supplies
  • Aid brewers in batch setup and grain milling.
  • Operate forklift (will train)
  • Maintain a tidy and functional workspace
  • Perform QA/QC duties as assigned
  • Carbonates beer and performs final checks to ensure beer is ready for packaging.
  • Adhere to correct PPEs and all SOPs

Requirements

  • 21 years of age or older
  • Must be passionate about craft beer
  • Strong communication skills; ability to speak and interact effectively with coworkers
  • Professional presence; must conduct self in professional manner at all times as an ambassador for CDB

STREET TEAM / BRAND AMBASSADOR – PART TIME

We have assembled a Street Team (commonly called Brand Ambassadors in the industry) of individuals who have a passion for craft beer and want to spread the word about Castle Danger beers in the marketplace. Brand Ambassadors are part-time employees who work liquor store samplings, beer festivals, and other beer events. We are looking to add to our Street Team in these areas we serve: St. Cloud, Detroit Lakes, Alexandria, West Iron Range (Hibbing, Grand Rapids), and Northwest Wisconsin (Superior, Ashland). The minimum commitment we are seeking is 1 event per month. Benefits include hourly wage, discounted merchandise, and beer.
Duties include: Attending events and pouring samples, sharing information about Castle Danger Brewery and the beer and providing friendly service to represent the brand in a positive manner at all times.

Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent, 21 years of age or older, passion for craft beer, strong communication and customer service skills, reliable transportation to get to events at 4pm during the week and various times during the weekend, ability to stand and remain stationary for long periods of time, ability to lift 55+ pounds and the ability to work independently.
