My name is Maddy Stewart. I am the Marketing Manager at Castle Danger and this month I am interviewing myself. Enjoy!

What do you do here?
I am the marketing and events manager. I handle everything from social to festival. I work in the far, far away land called the office at the brewery.

How long have you been working with us?
I have been with Castle Danger since the middle of September 2016, so just over three years, now.

Why were you interested in working for Castle Danger?
I was out of a job and one of my best friends, Alex, shared this job posting with me. As a born and raised Wisconsinite, beer is in my blood. With experience in marketing, public relations, and sales, and a passion for beer, I jumped at the opportunity to do what I love in an industry that I love.

What is your favorite part about your job?
Everyone says their coworkers. This is true. The people who work at Castle Danger Brewery are the salt of the freaking earth and I love them. However, what I love most about my job is the mix of fun/lightheartedness and business. Our company is like the mullet of all breweries in Minnesota. Business in the front, party in the back. From experience, it’s hard to find a balance between these to elements. Our company, stemming from the four owners, has nailed this. And it’s awesome.

What is your favorite Castle Danger beer? What is your favorite beer outside of Castle Danger?
When it’s in season… Grapefruit Ode IPA. We brew this exclusively for O’Gara’s at the Fair (MN State Fair). It’s only available in August/September and it’s outstanding. Outside of Castle Danger… I’m going to break the rules (because I CAN) and I’m going to say Duluth Cider’s Sage. I’m a huge fan of anything craft and that includes cider. One of the co-founders of Duluth Cider, Val, used to work at Castle Danger Brewery and we love to see her continued success. The crew at Duluth Cider make some LEGITIMATE cider. Check them out.

The following questions were asked and answered by randomly selecting icebreaker questions from a list. If I had hand-picked them like I usually do, it would have felt like I was having a weird conversation with myself.

What would be your superpower and why?
I have always wanted to fly. I love the feeling of floating and I’m fascinated with birds.

Would you rather live in the ocean or on the moon?
Option C.

If you were the president, what would you change about the decorations in the White House?
Christmas decorations all year long.

If you had to eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Breakfast – warm Grape Nuts cereal with almond milk and a side of grapefruit. For real, I never get sick of it.

If aliens landed on earth tomorrow and offered to take you home with them, would you go?
NOPE.

Describe one crazy moment you have had at Castle Danger.
Our Lab Manager, Hannah, and I started at the brewery around the same time. When she was building our lab, one of the first things she started testing for was bacteria around the brewery and had ordered some petri dishes. For fun, she let me test for bacteria on my finger. I had recently washed my hands, but had been working on my laptop and eating an apple. A few days later we checked out my petri dish and it was like a tiny green castle had grown where I placed my finger. A TINY CASTLE. Seeing that was incredibly cool and horrifying all at the same time. Wash your hands, people. And your devices. …And your apples.
