BLUE BLAZE BLITZ

October 5, 2019 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

Many of the blue and white blazes on the Superior Hiking Trail (SHT) have faded or gone with downed trees since they were originally painted back in 2006 and 2007. It’s time to restore these blazes to their original glory and ensure trail users are able to find their way on the SHT. On October 5th, Team Danger will join a larger force of SHTA volunteers to paint new blue trail markers along the SHT. Team Danger Volunteers will be in-charge of up to a 5 mile section starting at the West Castle Danger Trailhead. Here is a link to a video of what we will be doing: https://youtu.be/wYf7RtBcVlA.

SHTA and Castle Danger Brewery will provide training, supplies (brushes, paint, templates, etc.), and directions to your assigned trailhead.

Details:
Who: Team Danger Volunteers
Where: Meet at the West Castle Danger Rd Trailhead. We will be doing a large section so we will be splitting into groups from this point.
When: Saturday, October 5th at 10:00 am until our section of trail is complete (plan on several hours.) Feel free to come for a couple hours (you will get a smaller section of trail) or to stay until the job is done.

What to bring:
• Plenty of water and food. Blazing on the Trail will take more time than hiking so don’t skimp on these provisions.
• Bug dope. They’re still out there.
• Gloves, if desired. (this paint is oil-based = messy)
• Some sort of container to hold supplies in as you walk
• Grubby clothing and shoes (again, oil-based paint is messy)

All ages are welcome. Children under 18 must have adult supervision. As always, if you volunteer you get a beer! Please fill out the form for each attendee. https://forms.gle/sXakDdYRLBV25vRz6
