Yo, Max!

This month, we chatted with our Packaging Manager, Max Pittman, to learn a little bit more about what he stays awake for. Max has been instrumental in building the foundation of our packaging department by focusing on continuously improving the quality and consistency of our beer. He is a true leader, bringing joy and structure to his department. Max is a humble leader, hardly ever taking credit for a job well done. We’re here to make him blush a little bit and give him one heck of a pat on the back. Max, you’re the best.

Here’s a little more about Max.

What do you do here?
As the Packaging Manager, I ensure we package the right product, the right amount of product, and most importantly, that the beer meets our standards of quality before it leaves our cooler and gets into the hands of CDB fans. There’s also a team of really good peeps that makes all this happen. Shout out to the Packaging Crew! (*See, we told you… humble.)

How long have you been working with us?
Since October 2018… Coming up on a year almost… time goes by so fast!

Why were you interested in working for Castle Danger?
I wanted to work for a company that truly shares similar values as myself and a company that could offer me opportunity to grow professionally. Throw a beer on top of that and I’d say it’s a pretty sweet gig.

What is your favorite part about your job?
The people, always the people. I like people, I need people, and it is by far the best part of my job. We have awesome folks here at CDB.

What is your favorite Castle Danger beer? What is your favorite beer outside of Castle Danger?
North Shore Lager, lately. As for a non-CDB beer, I like Sierra Nevada Celebration.

What do you do for fun outside of work?
Fish, mountain bike, camp, paddle, ski, ski-joor, winter camping… Really, anything that gets me outside where me and my super rad wife can go get our adventure on… and our dogger too!

If you were a wrestler what would be your entrance theme song?
Rockin’ in the Free World, by Neil Young

Do you have any pets? What are their names?
Yes, Zipper, and she has about 45 nicknames. Lately, we’ve been calling her “Squido Peedo”. She’s probably the best dog of the North. Gosh dang do I love that dog!

What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given?
“Follow YOUR dreams, to the top!” – Paul Schurke

What dance move are you secretly awesome at?
The “Carlton”. I grew up in the late 80’s and 90’s. I may not have all the moves, but I love to dance!

Describe one crazy moment or memory you’ve had at Castle Danger.
I recently went on a vacation to the Boundary Waters and attempted to set an Out of Office notification while I was away. Long story short, I ended up sending an Out of Office email to every email in my mailbox. We’re talking hundreds of emails to people inside and outside of CDB. Immediately, I had coworkers giving me a hard time about flooding their inboxes with Out of Office notice. I ran for help and the gals in the office (shout out to Jamie and Maddy) helped to stop the madness. I’m never going on vacation again. 🙂

Thanks for everything that you do, Max!
